Project Overview

Concrete Benchtop Newcastle

Concrete benchtops cast for one kitchen only, made to your dimensions and finished to suit the room they are going into.

A concrete benchtop is one of the few surfaces made specifically for your kitchen rather than cut down from a standard slab. Our concrete benchtop Newcastle team designs, casts and installs benchtops built to your dimensions, for indoor kitchens, bathrooms, laundries and outdoor entertaining areas.

We handle the whole process, from design and mould construction through to casting, grinding, sealing and installation. Colour, edge profile, thickness and how much aggregate shows are all decisions you make, so the result can sit anywhere from raw and industrial to smooth and refined.

Kitchen renovation or an outdoor kitchen build, a concrete bench gives you a genuinely one-off feature that also happens to be hard-wearing. It is skilled work, and we treat it that way.

Outdoor Kitchens

Outdoor Concrete Benchtops in Newcastle

An outdoor bench has a considerably harder life than an indoor one, and on the Newcastle coast harder again. Humidity, salt-laden air, high UV and driving rain from an east coast low all work away at finishes designed for a sheltered kitchen, which is why laminate swells, timber moves and some engineered stone fades on the western side. Concrete copes because the strength is in the material itself rather than a thin decorative layer over the top.

The sealer is the part that decides how it performs. We use penetrating sealers rated for exterior use, sitting inside the surface rather than forming a film that can cloud or peel once the temperature and humidity swing, and we walk you through the resealing interval. Done properly, a concrete benchtop handles red wine, cooking oil, salt spray and rain far better than most alternatives.

Outdoor kitchens, alfresco servery benches and poolside bars are where this shows most. We cast those with exterior use planned from the start, allowing for drainage, an appropriate mix and a finish that will not become slippery when wet or blinding in full summer sun. If you want the same look running from the indoor kitchen out to the barbecue, we can match colour and finish across both.

Kitchens

Newcastle Kitchen Concrete Benchtops

In a kitchen, a concrete benchtop gives you something you cannot buy off a rack: one continuous surface made to your exact layout. Island benches run long without a visible join, waterfall ends drop straight to the floor, and sinks and drainer grooves can be cast directly into the top so there is no rim collecting crumbs. Thickness is a choice too, from a slim 30mm profile through to a 100mm slab if you want the bench to read as the centrepiece.

We template off the cabinetry once it is installed rather than working from plans, because that is the only way to get tight, even joins against walls that are rarely as square as the drawings suggest — and in a city with as much century-old housing stock as Newcastle, they very rarely are. Cut-outs for taps, cooktops and appliances get set out with you beforehand. Colour is mixed through the whole slab, and you choose how much stone shows, from a plain, almost seamless grey to a lightly ground finish with a subtle speckle.

Practically, a sealed concrete bench wipes down like any other hard surface. We will always be straight about the trade-offs: concrete is a natural material, so expect slight tonal variation across the slab and the occasional fine hairline mark over the years. Most clients see that as the appeal, but if you want a surface with no character in it at all, engineered stone is the honest answer and we will say so.

Made To Measure

Why Have Your Benchtops Custom-Made

Every benchtop we make is cast for one kitchen, so nothing gets compromised to suit a standard size. You choose dimensions, thickness, edge profile, colour and how much aggregate shows, and the mould is built around those decisions. That is a fundamentally different process to picking the closest option from a supplier catalogue and cutting it to fit.

It is skilled work and the details decide the outcome. Reinforcement placement, mix consistency, curing time and how the surface is ground and sealed all determine whether the bench stays flat, holds its colour and shrugs off daily use. Our team casts and finishes benchtops regularly, and we handle the install ourselves so nobody is guessing about support requirements or how a heavy slab gets through the door.

You will know the price, the lead time and exactly what the finish will look like before we start, and we bring samples so you are choosing from something you can hold rather than a photo on a screen. Send us the layout, the cut-outs you need and the look you are after, and we will work out what is achievable.

  • Cast to your measurements after the cabinetry is in
  • Colour, thickness, edge and stone exposure all your choice
  • Integrated sinks, drainer grooves and appliance cut-outs
  • Made, delivered and installed by the same team
