Maryland Concrete Driveways

Maryland was built out largely through the 1980s and 1990s, and the concrete work here reflects the age of that housing rather than its style. Original driveways are now three to four decades old, which is right at the point where cracking, settlement and surface breakdown become common, so replacement and resurfacing are frequent starting points. The land undulates noticeably across the suburb, so gradient matters on a good number of blocks: transitions at the garage need resolving, falls have to shed heavy storm rainfall away from the house, and steeper approaches rule out slick finishes. Clay through the area moves seasonally, and on some blocks the original subdivision brought in fill that was compacted to varying standards, which is worth confirming rather than assuming before base depths are set. Blocks are generally comfortable, so second parking bays, caravan spaces, shed slabs and patios are all practical additions. Established landscaping now well matured can limit truck access on some properties and adds root pressure along older driveway edges.
